Arden's Story

Obituary Arden passed away at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta on Wednesday, November 1 (All Saints Day) after a month-long battle in the hospital with heart and kidney failure. His loving and devoted wife Connie was by his side holding his hand in his final moments. Arden had faith that God was always with him and in Christ he would find comfort and peace. Arden was born on December 19, 1947, in the Cartersville area. As a young child he moved to Atlanta with his grandmother. He attended O’Keefe High School, which is now part of the Georgia Tech campus. Arden loved sports and played football and baseball. He graduated with a B.S. degree from Kennesaw State and a Master of Educational Psychology from Georgia State. He is predeceased by his mother Lillie Mae Guyton and maternal grandmother Lena Gertrude Guyton. Arden is lovingly remembered by the great love of his life for over forty years Connie Bramlett, their son Will-Cody Bramlett that he loved so dearly, and his sister Lena Silver. He is also remembered by his aunt Louise Wunch and niece Cynthia Davidson in Georgia, cousins in Michigan, and Connie’s family in Georgia and Tennessee. Connie and Arden met on a blind date in Atlanta on June 19, 1983, and it was love at first sight. Arden proposed August 6 and they married February 11, 1984. After moving to Chicago in 1996, for Connie to attend graduate school to become a Lutheran pastor, their hearts were filled when their son Will-Cody came into their lives. He has been their greatest joy in life and Arden loved him beyond measure and was so proud of the man he has become. Arden was passionate about his career as a social worker and teacher in psychiatric hospitals for adolescents. He worked in the foster care system in Georgia, Illinois, Florida, and Tennessee. ey, they always had family pets. Arden dearly loved their Labrador Beau who went to heaven in 2018. He leaves behind their dogs River and Theo who gave him countless hours of entertainment. Moving frequently for Connie’s ministry the goal was always to get back home to Atlanta, which was finally accomplished in 2022, where they are now part of the loving church family at Christ Lutheran Church in Marietta. Arden was an avid reader, especially science fiction. He loved drawing and painting, especially scenes of places he and Connie loved to visit, particularly the beach. Family, friends and church family remember him as a sweet, kind, amazing man who was loving and caring. He loved to talk with people and share stories about his life, especially his Alpha Tau Omega fraternity days at Georgia State and his experiences as a social worker and counselor. He loved sports and was loyal to the Falcons and Braves. Arden and Connie shared a passion for jazz music and were avid fans of Pat Metheny, who they saw in concert in several cities from Madison, Wisconsin to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their favorite Pat Metheny song is “Are You Going with Me?” Whenever changes occurred throughout their journey together, Connie would playfully ask Arden “Are you going with me?” and his response was always “You know I am!” Thank you to those nurses at Northside Hospital and Kennestone who showed Arden compassion and kindness over the weeks he spent there. A very special thank you to members of Christ Lutheran Church who have faithfully checked on Arden in the hospital and held him, Connie, and Will in their prayers and thoughts. A celebration of Arden’s life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in November 19 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please support your local animal shelter and the ASPCA.
