Arlene's Story
Life
Been a long time. I was sorting though a chest of pictures my Mom kept, and came across a class photo from Vintage. Funny how many faces I remembered...even names. Ulf Bogan, Stephany, Robert, Bobby, Eddie, so many more. I was quiet then, kept to myself mostly. I've become a muscian and singer. I am the Music Minister for UCC Congregational Church in Klamath Falls, OR. I did have a career with GTE California. I was a Telephone Operator, Central Office Equipment Installer. I worked my way up to the headquarters office in Thousands Oaks. All that is behind me now. I realized my dream of being on stage singing...not on as large a scale as I would have liked to, but it was good. I still perform now and then. I just sang, played guitar at the Fair Grounds here in Klamath Falls a couple weeks ago. I wrote some songs. One about John Lennon, and I was lucky enough to meet Cynthia Lennon (John's first wife) who signed the lead sheet for me. Very nice lady. I met George's sister...Louise H...Expand for more
arrison. Many people in the music industry. If ever David Wicker gets "Smudgy's Pond" out there, I will have a song in that production called "I Am I." When ever I drive through the San Fernando Valley, I drive by the school, the house I grew up in, Porter Jr. High and Monroe High. I graduated from Coachella Valley High in Thermal, CA. I moved to the Coachella Valley in 1968, to Mecca. I still consider that area my home. Both my parents have passed. Funny the things you remember from when you were a kid. I remember so many people making fun of me as I would walk to or from school saying "ooh, there is Wanda August's little sister." Well, let me tell you who said that, I am proud to be her little sister. She is a kind, loving person. I wouldn't trade her for anyone. I hope at least one person who said that to me reads this...and remembers. You did a lot of damage to my little heart back then, but today I forgive you. After all, not all people can be as kind as my sister.
