Arlene's Story
Hello to all you wonderful Washington Irving H.S. Graduates, Class of 1961!
It's been a very long time since most of us have seen each other. I'm sure that we have all led very full lives since then, and I'd like to briefly update you about mine.
After high school, I went to City College. I graduated four years later with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I taught briefly. After that, I got a temporary job with Gimbel's Department Store. The temporary turned into permanent, and I was eventually appointed Buyer of Toddlerswear (Children's clothes.)
Several years later, I went back to school and received a Generalist Diploma in Paralegal Studies. I worked for two small law firms, for about 2 1/2 years. In 1990 I c...Expand for more
hanged careers, again, and became a caseworker for
the Human Resource Administration (HRA) of New York. I retired from HRA in 2004, as a Supervisor II.
During the 1970's, I married, had a son, and became widowed. Although I had a few short-term relationships, I never remarried.
I thoroughly enjoy being retired, and spending time on pet projects. I love "working" on my computer, and I do so every day. I enjoy listening to music, mostly on ITunes and Internet Radio. True to my Washington Irving art and writing training, I do crafts projects with psuedo-serious commentary, for fun. I also enjoy cooking, going to lectures, and concerts.
This kind of sums up 48 years. I hope we can all get together in 2011 for our 50th Year Reunion.
