Arlene's Story
After graduating from PHS in 1962, I went to SLU in Hammond, graduating in 1966 with BA in Secretarial Administration. Moved to New Orleans and worked for five+ years as a secretary for a small manufacturing plant and electrical equipment manufacturer's representative. Moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma and had several secretarial positions before settling with a position at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah working initially in the Department of Research and Development and then with the Director of Continuing Education and Special Programs. Met my now husband Rob while he was attending school there. We married on New Years Eve 1973, had a daughter, Amy Lee in March 1975, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in fall of 1976 where I took position as a legal secretary with law firm of Gable & Gotwals. In June 1982, had another daughter, Sara Elizabeth. Moved up in firm to the position of Administrative Assistant in the areas of Probate and Estate Planning. irm left to form a new law firm. Stayed with them until 2000 and then due to downsizing of the firm, subsequently worked with the Trust Dept of the Bank of Oklahoma. Stayed there for a year and half and then left to work for a one-man law firm from 2002 to 2011. Recently in August 2012, began working as an Independent Sales Representative for MATCO Tools which work involves sales of primarily automotive tools to technical education students at several of the tech ed centers in and around Tulsa area. Have been with them over 6 months and enjoying a totally new situation. Last Dec 31, celebrated 39 years of marriage. Daughters now live in Texas and Mississippi, with Amy working as a speech therapist and Sara working toward her doctorate in education while working as an educator. Hard to believe all these years have gone by so quickly. Of course, starting to feel the age in my bones. I think that when we stopped dancing (jitterbug and twist, etc.) that's when we stopped "exercising". Long live Rock N Roll! Trust all of you are well.
