Arlene's Story
I met my first husband after graduating PHS; he was in the Air Force stationed at George AFB in Victorville, CA. We married and moved to Iowa for a while, then moved back to Rialto, CA, where I gave birth to our first son, Lee, then we moved back to Iowa where we had two more sons and farmed for 22 years. We raised cattle, hogs, corn, and soybeans, and I always had an enormous garden which I spent many days and evenings canning and freezing the produce from the garden. We enjoyed raising our sons on the farm, and they attended very small town schools....a drastic difference from where I grew up in San Bernardino. ld a job as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools for 13.5 years. My husband and I divorced in 1988 and I moved 20 miles to the town of Fairfield, Iowa, where I had more jobs working for entrepreneurs in the software industry...very exciting jobs and I learned a lot with each and every one I had. I was able to buy my own home and did very well on my own, and 14 years later met my husband, Dan, who is in construction and mining and we have moved around a lot: Portland, OR, Vancouver, WA, Paducah, KY, Henderson, NV, and now Helendale, CA. I'm looking forward to our Class of 1964 Pacific High School reunion in 2014.
