Dan's Story
Graduated from Kenwood High in June 1962.
Attended the University of Maryland and graduated from there in June 1966.
Entered the United States Air Force in January 1967 and graduated from Officer Training School in March 1967.
Served in the Air Force for 26 years retiring in 1993 with the rank of Colonel. Served tours of duty in Japan (1969-1974), Hawaii (1979-1984) and Korea (1984-1986). Also served assignments at Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY, Scott AFB, Belleville, IL and Richards-Gebaur AFB, Kansas City MO and Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Best assignments were as Base Commander at Taegu AB, Republic of Korea 1984-1986 supporting F-4 Phantom air-to-ground and air-to-air fighter operations and previously as the Executive Officer to the Vice-Commander-in Chief of Pacific Air Forces for two years. During my career I was awarded a Legion of Merit, a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, five Air Force Meritorious Medals, the Air Force Commendation Medal, three Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards and an Air Force Organizational Excellence Award. I graduated from the three Air Force professional military schools: The Air War College, The Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officer School. In addition I was able to earn a Masters Degree in Management while on active duty.
Started a 2nd career in the civilan sector after retiring from the USAF in 1993. Have had a variety of Human Resource management positions over the past 26 years. Still serving currently as Human Resources Director for Interstate-Truckway, Inc., in Cincinnati, OH. In 2005 I earned my SPHR (Senior Professional of Human Resources), a professional certification of which I am very proud.

y life, my wife, Karen who retired from her position as a marketing director for AmCare/Doctors Urgent Care here in the greater Cincinnati, OH area. Karen is now a certified Yoga instructor and conducts classes for Elemental OM in the Cincinnati and Mason OH area. Along with my three kids, Lisa, Mandi and David, Karen is hands-down the most important person in my life. We have had 25 wonderful years together and look forward to 25 more. Karen has a son, Kris and his wife Heather who I love like my own and they have twin boys, Parker and Preston who graduate from Springboro High School this year. Lisa, Mandi, David, Kris and Heather all graduated from college and have gone on to incredibly successful careers and personal lives. Lisa and her husband Matt have three boys, Ayden, and twin boys Jonathan and Dylan, Mandi and her husband Chris have a boy, Luke and a firecracker girl,, Eliza. David is engaged to Samantha Pisut and will be married in Canton GA where they reside in June 2019. With our kids gone, Karen and I keep ourselves busy with our two bearded collies, Beaumont and Phoebe and our fabulous chow-chow,Sadie, We also have an adorable Persian cat, Sammi.
Karen and I have gotten involved marketing the sale of the artwork of three incredible Dayton, OH-based artists: Mike Elsass, Doug Fiely and Darren Haper. It has been a great association with these three very talented artists and we have enjoyed the opportunity to expand there market to the greater Cincinnati, OH area and beyond. Their work is available for view on the internet since they all have Facebook pages.
Karen and I love the beach, particularly the Outer Banks in the Carolinas, Grayton Beach, FL and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
