Life
Howdy Y'all from Austin TX.
Yes I live in the Lone Star State and have mostly since 1975. After graduating LHS and having a wild summer I went to Pratt Intstitute of Technology in Brooklyn NY to pursue a BSEE degree. I got very interested in Integrated Circuit design my last 2 yrs of college. That's when I finally put my brain in gear and landed a job with Texas Instruments in Houston in 1976 - WOW what a difference from NJ. A yankee down south. My career continued then to Mostek Corp(1978) Carrolton (Dallas) TX, then with Motorola Austin (1983), then with Ford Microelectronics Col Spgs (1986), then back with Motorola (1992) Austin TX, then a 3 year break after a lay off to start two home based businesses, then finally with Spansion LLC in Austin.
I married my lovely wife Michele in 1993 in Colorado Springs. We met at work in Colo Spgs and went to grad school then moved to TX in 1992. We have 7 beautiful children age spread about 2 years apart. Our first is Kyle born in 1995, Samantha 1997, Jonathan 1999, Rebekah 2001, Matthew 2003, Hannah May 2005 and our 7th Faith Abigail born Oct 1, 2007. Our last 4 children we had at home. In Texas we can enjoy some freedoms that the other states don't particularly home births. Essentially we are a young family. I believe the mean age for us is ~15.3 yrs old. This encourages me to feel quite young, which I need at times.
It may seem odd that I have such young children but this is my second run at a family. Back in 1983 I was married but divorced after my son Blake was two. Blake now 24 lives with his mother in Allen TX where he helps raise and train horses.

my career I am a Member of the Technical Staff Design Engineer working for a Flash memory semiconductor manufacturing company, Spansion LLC at the old AMD campus. You most likely have a flash memory in your cell phone called a SIM card, USB zip drive, and other handheld widgets. You know when the power is off this memory is not destroyed unlike mine sometimes.
My life has changed around since my younger days in HS, college, and early career days. I had led a somewhat destructive lifestyle but in 1993 I made an eternal choice to accept the Lord Jesus Christ into my life. Our family lives a simple Christ centered lifestyle.
Michele and I are a single income family and we also home school our children.
As a Christ centered family of 7 children we worship and fellowship with a part of the body of Christ in a "family-integrated" worship service church in covenant with several other families. We enjoy the freedom to home school our children in an environment of biblical Christ centered virtues that will be manifested in their Christian life. Our home is quite active with home school, music, meal prep, play time, birds chirping in the background, and dogs barking. There is never a dull moment at the Collard home. The sounds of violin, harp, or piano can also be heard during the day as the 4 oldest children practice their musical instruments (2 each). We own and raise golden retrievers.
You could say that I'm a far cry from the Arty you new way back when and it's all because there is a God who really cares.
