Dr. Arthur D. Kemp:  

Life Having grown up around the guns blasting at Fort Bragg, I possessed a special curiosity about military life. Therefore, at the conclusion of my course work for my doctorate degree in psychology, I chose to enter the U.S. Army by a direct commission from the Pentagon. After serving 3 years of active duty and an additional 3 years of active reserves, I choose to be honorably discharged at the rank of Captain in order to pursue a career within the university environment. Education After graduation from Hoke County High School, I earned a B.A. in psychology at North Carolina A&T State University-Greensboro in 1980 graduating Magna Cum Lauda and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1988. My internship in Professional Psychology was completed at the Texas Tech University Counseling Center. Additionally, I received post-doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology at Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and completed coursework in neuropsychology at the University of Northern Colorado. I also completed a one year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical behavioral medicine and a second year of in clinical neuropsychology in the School of Medicine at the Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center. While there, I was also able to teach three courses within the Department of Psychology as well as complete a graduate course in Clinical Neuropsychology. In preparation for the future - after my retirement from teaching in 7 years, I am currently pursuing a second masters degree in Safety Management. I plan to relocate to Raleigh and work for one of the companies in the Research Triangle or maybe in Walmart management!!!
