Art Van's Story
I worked as a broadcast journalist in San Diego and finally (NPR) in Los Angeles. I continued to paint over the years and eventually developed a career as an artist. I am represented by Saatchi Gallery, L.A. and Singulart, Paris.. I moved to the artsy, theatrical community of Ashland, Oregon in 2017 and broadcast the news on a Pacifica Radio affiliate. . As fate would have it, a small job opened up at a local FM radio station. One of my friends asked if I hadn't majored in that. I thought for a minute and say, "Yeah, I guess so." By some quirk I was awarded the dubious distinction of North Shore Correspondent. I did pretty well for a while but my drinking and now pill abuse turned stepping stone jobs into dead ends. Of course I was unaware of all this and headed back to San Diego to get into TV. I got an internship (at 33) at KNSD-TV and had fun. Eventually my addictions took over and I found myself unemployable and un****you know whatable. After a long spiral and two DUI's I finally sobered up, got help and actually started to develop a little character. I'm glad to be here, many people I know didn't make it. I guess that's my story,
