Arvel's Story

Life I graduated in Hueytown, Al, but I always felt a part of the 61 class of Ramey as I was there from 57-660, before my father was transferred to Massachusetts. I joined the USAF in Aug of 61 and retired in Jun of 82. I served in Hawaii, Alabama, 6 months in Vietnam (was there for the cease-fre) and then 9 years in Panama City Fl. After the AF, I served 13 years with the US Postal Service. A stroke in Jan of 1996, forced my retirement from the USPS. I stayed at home for a couple of years, worked part-time for a year and started working full-time again in September of 1999. My wife Nancy and I celebrated 36 years in Feb 2007. We have a beautiful daughter, Laura, 35 and a handsome son, David, 26, who both work with me at Ford Motor Credit as Collectors....Expand for more
Nancy and I have one cat, Peanut and a long-haired chihuahua, Pepe. We currently live in Columbia, Tn where we have been since 1983. I have fond memories of Ramey and would like to see my friends again. I remember the swim/diving meet in my junior year, because I won second place ahead of my brother. and I remember wearing a dress for freshman initiation. Boy, was that a diffent time-zone or what. I know I really enjoyed my time there.I remember Miss Jana Alexander, ny tping teacher too. I think she was only 22. Laura married in 2007 and had a baby boy in 2012 at the age of 40. david married in 2011 and has a stepson, who is 17 now and looking at colleges as he scored a 31 on ACT. So we have 2 grandsons. We are enjoying retirement and travel a lot.

This is my Dad, Baxter Vick. He worked for Vultee Aircraft Factory in Nashville, Tn. He served his time for our country on the island of Guam. This picture was in 1945 or 1946.

This storm trooper having a rolling fit.
This is an interesting article for anyone who is in this situation. I think we could all benefit from the story she used as example of looking at the past
