Audrey's Story
My father recognized my love for music, and I'll never forget the day he drove home from work and pulled out a saxophone from the back seat of his Buick and handed it to me. Being the youngest and 14 yrs old at the time my older brother had often teased and hassled me challenging my meek nature thinking my quietness was a weakness but once I master that saxophone all mouths dropped and finally my brother gave me my respect and I knew music was now my new best friend. Joining the Marching Scarlets in High School was one of the best times of my life. ball fields at halftime. I had the opportunity to go on band trips and loved the adventure of traveling and performing. I had formed some long-term relationships with some of the best kids back then and I love those happy memories.
Long after I graduated from East High those experiences carried over with me and I joined a couple musical groups and a jazz band over the years. I wrote a couple songs that got published and continued to play the sax for many years. Later I self-taught myself to play the keyboard and folk string guitar which I loved to play while living in Indianapolis for 18 years till I came back to Iowa in 2002 and been here ever since.
