Avis's Story
Life
30 yrs since we graduated from MHS. I still feel like I'm 17 or 18, only with a little more wisdom, some heartbreaks, etc.I live in Port Saint Lucie, FL, and have been here since 2000. I have three children...David is now 27, Alexis is 23, and Ayla is 15. I also have a granddaughter, Amira, who is 4 yrs old, and a second grandchild, Jacob David, born 5/16/08. I've had a lot of surgeries - about 18. Most have been as a result of degenerative disk disease of the spine. But I am lucky; I'm still very mobile, I can walk, drive, pretty much do what I need to do. Can't lift too much, so my dream career of Olympic weightlifting has gone by the wayside! ;) My dog, Pepi, is a teacup chihuahua, and my cat, Suki, is a black and white domestic short hair we saved during Hurricane Jeanne. r ventures were primarily in Human Resources in both the private and public sectors. I worked for a computer repair/maintenance organization, followed by a stint with an environmental engineering firm, and then completed my last official job with the State of Florida before health issues (and my doctors) demanded I no longer work. Now, I work for a condo association in the office and I really like it...not much stress. Yes, I've been through two marriages, neither of which lasted. But they both produced my children, for whom I am eternally grateful. I'm still trying to figure out what I am supposed to do with my life, other than raise my kids, and eventually, I hope that answer will come to me. Regardless, I keep searching for the right path and continue to believe that the Higher Power will kick me in the butt and send me in the right direction!
