Avis Chaney:  

Avis is married to her college sweetheart whom she met in her 1st year at Davis. Avis' schools include Salinas High School, Hartnell J.C.for 1 year, U,C. Davis, and Auburn University in Alabama for 1 quarter where she finished the last quarter of her 5th year to get her teaching credential with a major in Spanish and marry Brent who was in the Air Force at the time in Montgomery, Alabama. She taught Spanish for 1 year in Montgomery. Then they moved back to Davis so her husband could finish his degree. Avis worked w/migrant ed (using her Spanish), and she also taught remedial reading for 3 years in Dixon (near Davis )where she and her husband lived while he finished his degree and became a banker w/Wells Fargo.) His job moved them to Quincy (in the Plumas national forest) where Avis taught 2nd grade. She loved living in the mountains and rafting and swimming in the Feather River and playing tennis..Then they moved to Gridley where again Brent's job moved them.
