B's Story

I always wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. To blow off steam I will work on the website or play a song, maybe just strum awile without any thought to the notes. If it's been an especially stressful day, I will hit the road & run a few miles. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have music, a computer, and coffee to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I lived in Fayetteville, NC owning a restaurant with my best friend Bill, after that we went to Rock Hill, as a single dad raising Gearbear; end of marriage #1. On to Mrytle Beach, SC to try and grow up, instead ended up with #2 and Emily, on to Galveston, TX for school at UTMB, after graduation went to Fayetteville, NC, and recieved Ethan. Lost my compassion for my fellow man quite quickly, and decided to get into the IT side of healthcare instead of the clinical side. Thought Chapel Hill would be nice, and also had great mental health facility for #2. Decided to abandon the whole concept of marriage and moved back to Clover, SC to end marriage #2. Have three great children who I would walk over burning coals for. The biggest surprise in life is how far you can move from the person you thought you were. I learned so many things from my children from Gearbear I learned that no matter how bad life, and how many people can abuse you, you can still end up normal. From Emily I learned to always smile, just ignore the heartache and pain, and put a smile on, and your spirits will improve. Ethan taught me that you can convince yourself of anything,...Expand for more
at any time with the right amount of talking and no listening. Only maintain a staunch refusal to acknowledge that they are even speaking to you. God, I love him. If I won $100 million, I'd give 90 million of it to children, then spend the rest on guitars, socks and running shoes. My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be sure of what life was. I was so completely absolutely wrong. My best friend would tell you I'm not anything like I used to be, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as unapproachable. At least thats what I'm told. Not really sure because I'm me and not someone else. I still wear jeans and tee shirts, even to church. (I've been told this is still a sin, but only in a Baptist church, and since I attend a rocking Luthern church , this is'nt an issue) The biggest thing that would surprise most people at my reunion would be that I am both alive and not in jail (never been, its a wonder). My first job was at Hardees, where I got paid not enough to do too much. What I remember most about it is the people, Sarge, & Tami. Some people come into your life and when their gone you can't even remember what they looked like, let alone their names, however certain ones leave a lasting impact, almost like a lingering scent in the air, one that seems to follow you around from room to room. I have been absolutely blessed with many of these people throughout the years, and have learned to cherish each and everyone of them, if I left tomorrow, I want to make sure they are are aware of the impact they have had on me.
