BRIAN's Story
I am a sleeping fool these days. I can go to bed at 11 and sleep to 10. And sometimes I have my best dreams just before I wake up. This morning I dreamed of an old PCHS classmate. She was so vivacious that I thought, "What a pleasure she is to be around." I never had that much regard for her 60 years ago. She's not a member of this site or Facebook.
I have been letting my hair grow (Did I have any choice?). Since the hair was unlimited, I decided to stop shaving. That's why I look like I fit right in with this woods picture. Man mountain.
I try to avoid reading the news. Mostly unprofitable. I read the Bible sometimes and I'm also interested in Chinese philosophy. I didn't get married until I was 42. That's probably a BIG surprise to any of you who are familiar with me. I am still married to the same girl and we still like each other. The only advice I give my granddaughter about boys is, "If they don't laugh at your jokes, they've got to go. It doesn't matter how hot they are or how rich." (We adopted teen-aged nieces, who gave us grandchildren.)
Such a pretty sunset over Sylvan Lake tonight. It was about 80. Delightful night for a walk and a sit. I have enjoyed this lake for most of my 77 years. My br...Expand for more
other died last year and his ashes were scattered on Sylvan Lake, with my mother's and father's. Mine will follow in a few years.
Most days during this lock-down, Astrid (wife) and I take the grand tour in the morning. We take Pine Lake road past Pine Lake. Then, Indian Trail, Commerce, and Old Orchard Trail around Orchard Lake. I see my old friend again, Apple Island. Then we walk in the Orchard Lake woods. On the way back, we often drive around Square Lake then Sylvan Lake. Then past Cass Lake on the way home. We have so many pretty lakes to enjoy around here.
Afternoons I often do handyman work. We have several properties we are maintaining. I have a screen door and a lattice barrier to install. Last week I worked on a crumbling cement steps. A tenant said his wife got drunk and the police broke a door frame to take her away. Would I please fix it? Oh, and the vent over the stove doesn't work, either. If I have great good luck, my nephew will work on the roof of the house I was raised in at Sylvan Lake. Then I will be able to carry shingles, maybe even up a ladder.
Well, time to take a shower and watch a little TV with my wife before bed. Foyle's War again? Vera? Endeavor? Inspector Lewis? Bye all.
