Baird's Story
I have been married for 42 years to Debbie. Deb didn't go to Sam, we met at Church, got married when I was 20 and she was 18. I worked full time and went to school at night, graduated from UofH with a BBA. I was an oil industry accountant for 33 years, live in the Kingwood area (never totally left the north side). We have two kids, Mark, 37 and Valerie, 33. Mark and his wife Beth had our grandson, Ethan, 11 and Valerie and her husband Rosbil had our granddaughters, Samantha, 6 and Mia,1. family and Church. God has been very gracious to us and we have had a wonderful life.
I have been fighting kidney cancer for 6 1/2 years. MD Anderson is home away from home. I have had numerous surgeries and procedures but everything is stable for the moment. God has graciously given me a good quality of life through this process and has given me great opportunities to serve him while I am still here.
I wrote this post on June 30, 2015. I loved my time at Sam Houston, had a great time, made many special friends and I love you all.
