Thomas's Story
Personnally I feel I've never let things go to my head I fully enjoy life as it comes ! Being brought up on a farm has given me the love for animals, love of life, enjoying the minor things in life, things that people forgot was there, enjoying my fellow man and most of all "WOMEN" as I grew older and wiser. I'm a quiet companion but don't count me out as a conversationalist..........that I can do when I have the urge or with a little coaxing from the right person. As a child I had lots of love from both parents and siblings(6)and it shows. The closeness of family that had to work together because that's what farming is all about with a family as large as ours. The boy's were meant to work the farm the girls did most of the house work and when they were done they'd be right next to the male counterparts in the fields working. We'd have lunch out in the fields. My mother would bring out something special just about everyday......rice, fried pork chops ( my favorite) Beans, eggs, tortilla's with butter we'd BBq pork out in the fields and when we could afford it BEEF !
I was alway's in awe of my older brothers (2) for they were soooo much stronger than myself but I'd give everything they did a try ! My Father would put me in the truck and put it i...Expand for more
n compound low and let me steer the truck down the furrows in order to pick up the day's vegetables that were harvested loaded onto the truck some seven feet high ! Watching my brothers throw the crates of vegetables to that height was remarkable ! To a little guy it was truly amazing feat.
The smell of freshly harvested celery still lingers in my nostrils and all I gotta do is drift back to those day's. It takes little effort to do that. Me sitting in the truck and keeping it on a straight path was a big task for such a little guy ! I'd sit up on my knees so that I could see just exactly where to steer. The droning of the motor and the whining of the gears was relaxing to me. All that power at my hands was a thrill in itself. Alway's lookin' around at things happening around me was special, wanting people to take a gander at the little kid driving such a big truck ! Can you imagine the elation I felt ? this is just a small story of my childhood......so keep coming back to my profile for it will be updated from time to time !
I always wanted to be a cowboy when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were happy with the way I grew up although I did have many questionable times as I grew older !
