Barb's Story
I attended Everett Comm. College (Washington) and Oregon State University in Forestry and Wildlife Biology, and was certified as an EMT in WA and OR.
Since '76 I've worked for the US Forest Service - mostly in Oregon. I fought forest fires for the first 15 years. Since then I've stayed involved with fire mgt. as a fire lookout, (additional to my regular work), since I could take my sons to the tower with me.
My USFS career has been in forestry, range and wild horse mgt. Currently I do archaeological work in support of these programs.
Larry and I have been married since Nov '81. He's retired from the US Forest Service where he was a Fire Mgt. Officer. We share a love for the outdoors and travel.
We have two sons aged 22 and 14.
For kicks I enjoy downhill skiing, hiking, backpacking, hunting, mountain biking, and follo...Expand for more
wing my kids' activities. On the mellow end I am a birder, gardener and love my hammock on any reasonably warm day!
I'm a Boy Scout leader, soccer coach and even coached the local swim team 2 years ago - the most challenging job of my life! (Running a crew of 20 firefighters was easy in comparison!)
We live in a rural part of Oregon. It's a 3 hour drive to a mall or Walmart, but we have a great view out any window of our home, and I can't imagine a better place to be or a better man to share it all with.
I guess I was well on my way here in my youth, between traveling with family and spending my time riding horses, climbing trees, running around Camp Tamarack or exploring the "Wilderness" of Tower Hill!
Funny, I never knew what I would "BE" following graduation from LaSalle, but life is proving to be a great adventure!
