Barbara's Story

Well, lets see. After I graduated I became a Registered Nurse. I currently own a Home Health Agency in Miami Lakes. I am married to a wonderful man, this year will be our 24th wedding anniversary. I have a son "Tony" he is currently at UCF studying Business. I had a daughter "Janelle" whom I lost on November 2004 to an accidental Carbon Monoxide poisoning. She was only 19yrs/old and starting her life. I currently have a Non-for-profit foundation in her memory, Janelle's Wishing Well Foundation. We provide scholarships to graduating students who want to pursue a career in the Health Sciences. We also try to bring awareness to the communi...Expand for more
ty of the dangers of Carbon Monoxide , especially during the hurricane season, when we see an increase due to the incorrect use of Generators. Thru our foundation we were able to pass legistlation. Starting July 2008 the new carbon monoxide law, nicknamed "Janelle's Law" will take effect...all new construction in the State of Florida will have to have hard wiring Co monitors. I hope to pass new legistlation with regards to cars (Co safety). Anyways, I was pleased to find this site...it brought back a lot of wonderful memories of High School and the Drill Team. I'm glad I shared that time in my life with you all. Barbara Bertot (Alvarez)
