Barbara's Story
How quickly the years have passed. The old time lapse camera has gone warp speed in the last ten years. There was always so much "future" ahead. I've missed opportunities to connect with many '61 classmates, regrettably but hope that there can still be a connection with some of you. Lots of Joys and sorrows to share.Am so interested to learn where your paths have taken you. Ive remained in San Diego (Encinitas) as have many of you,except for the two years spent in Wickford, Rhode Island. Grapefruit-sized blueberries grew in our backyard and microscopic mosquitros wedged through window screens and ravaged our blood. Although summers were beastly humid and winters were long, gray and cold, the friendships made were close and treasured.After Rosary, I received an elementary teaching credential from USD; plus a Master's, taught GATE classes for 34 years in SD Unified. Married a Scripps oceanographer, raised two lovely daughters and still live in the Olivenhain house in which they were raised.My daughters moved to Petaluma and to Sant...Expand for more
a Cruz where one teaches Eng. Lit in high school and the other is married to an attorney and is raising two darling children. Her four year old daughter has lived with infantile Crohns Disease since she was 5 months old This is a hideos illness involving 100's of extremely painful intestinal ulcers.The treatment includes an immune suppressant and a feeding tube.It has been a devastating experience. The family needs to be constantly vigilant that she not be exposed to harmful bacteria and viruses. Many prayers and positive energy is stowed upon her as well as great efforts in fund raisers for more research in this area.Ayla is currently pretty much in remission, I'm happy to say. I'm hoping that your health and that of your families' is great and that you are in a comfortable place in life.
