Barbara's Story
Life
Hi! I was Barbara Bivens (class of '90) in high school. If some of you are wondering what happened to me? I actually graduated from another school after my Junior year at Morristown HS. I was married to Lawrence Gross (class of '88) in June 1996. Together we have a son, Nicholas Alexander (now in 5th grade), and a daughter, Hannah Nicole in 1st Grade. I am presently at home with our children but I plan to go back to outside work soon, however I also work at home through my own personal business. My past employment was in the Security Communications and Operations field for 9 years in Morristown, and a retail confections shop for 3 years. My husband is a professional Firefighter/Fire Inspector with the Town of Morristown and a Security Operations Lt./Fire Safety Division Officer in Morristown. He also coaches Gymnastics for the YMCA, and volunteers as Rescue Lt. for the Morris Minute Men First Aid Squad in Morris Twp. In my spare time I love to go shopping and sell AVON. On another note, I've been searching for two classmates whom I lost track of, Abigail Calvin (Assumption Class of '86), and Leslie Simmons (MHS Class of '90) for many years now. The last time I saw Leslie, she had a small daughter while in high school and moved out to North Hollywood, California. I haven't seen Abby since 8th grade graduation. I would love to get in touch with her! She was a great friend in grade school!! Email me for a response. I'd love to hear from any of you. ;-)
School
Ok, well my school days were practically boring and depressing. In sc...Expand for more
hool I was mainly the quiet one. Not many would talk to me, and if they did there was a reason they did. I didn't have many friends in school, probably because I was shy, quiet, withdrawn and unsure if I would embarrass myself asking someone to be my friend. There were other reasons I'm sure. I wasn't exactly the popular girl on the block. Some of the friendships I had came naturally, as they were either just like me or could relate to how I felt on a daily basis. Most classmates never gave me the chance. And the boys I liked were too popular for a girl like me to be seen around with. Well there was one I had a wood shop class with that was very nice to me, I was sure he would ask me out, but nope, he didn't. All in all, I did not like school and I hated doing the work most times, what kid loves school?! LOL... aside of that, I had some great teachers and some of my classes were cool, some were really boring. I dreaded gym class at all times! I was never involved in after school sports or activities. I left high school in my junior year and went on to graduate with a GED in 1990 after attending night classes at MHS. I started working and living on my own at that time. It's been a long journey with some bumps in the road but I'm here and that's what counts.
College
No college here although I would like to study interior design again, and I hope to become a certified teacher aid in the near future.
Workplace
I'm currently a stay at home mom to my two children, and I have an AVON business. I plan to go back to work full time soon.
