Barbara's Story
Life
Was first in Buckner when I was 12 and was there a year and 7 months. Went to school on campus in the 6th and 7th grades. Returned again when I was 16 and went to John B. Hood Jr. High off campus. Went to W.W. Samuel through high school but did not graduate from there. Left in January of my senior year and moved back with my parents in Comanche. I have 5 sisters Beverly, Mildred (Tyree), Mickie, Vickie and Rhonda; and a brother, Paul. They had left before my senior year. I lived in Teacherage during my high school days and my roommate was Pearl Ann Kelly. Pearl Ann was one of my roommates when I lived in Hunt on Mrs. Treddles floor. Graduated from Comanche High and went to Corpus Christi for the summer and moved to Marfa where my parents lived at the time. Met my husband of 35 years and we have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Workplace

and worked in a beauty shop till I married and got pregnant. Didn't work but took care of three children until our daughter was two and I went to business school and took training to be an executive secretary, was the highest in accounting. Worked for temporary companies for two years and settled to be a School Crossing Mom when my daughter started to school. Then I drove a school bus when she went into middle school. Worked as a care giver when she went into high school and then as a teacher in a day care. I learned how I could help other children with ADHD and ADD learn to cope with their problem and still enjoy life without drugs. When things started to get out of hand we took 15 minutes to sit, take deep breathes, and pretend we were on a beach or floating in space. Right now my job has been learning from my grandchildren and helping them whenever I can. I have done what I want and when I want thanks to a wonderful supportive husband. I am planning on going back to college and learn computer graphics this fall. That is going to be fun and challenging.
