Barbara's Story

Hello, from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada....quite a difference from Paso Robles or Newhall. My family moved from Paso Oct. 1957, and I graduated from High School in Newhall, June 1958 (right near Magic Mountain). I just can't believe that it has been almost 66 years since high school. Where has the time flown? I've had a great life. .....married a handsome Canadian in 1964. He promised me a "California Ranch home with indoor swimming pool" if I would come live in Canada. We had 7 acres of cedar pine trees. We had 56 years together before he returned to his Heavenly Home in August 2020 (not Covid related, but a rare form of cancer) .....have 3 wonderful children, 7 g/kids ....ended up teaching for 30 years, exactly what I had wanted to do, loving every day of teaching ....served on Town Council in our town for 15 years. ....I still sing (however now days, it's mostly to seniors, and we're getting close to the same age!) Besides, I can sing the same song each time I visit, and they think it's brand new again. LOL ....lived...Expand for more
in Southern Alberta only 40 miles from the border near Waterton National Park (which is the same park as Glacier National Park on Montana side...the border goes through the park) After hubby passed, I sold it and moved to a Seniors apartment building in the city of Lethbridge. There's always something fun happening here. .....the summers here are absolutely beautiful, but I still have enough California blood in me to not like snow/winter. .....one the photos is of my hubby and myself as we are holding up the real Grey Cup (do you know Canadian Football?) ....hubby and I got to travel and cruise a lot after we retired. ....got to visit and meet his relations in Switzerland after we toured Europe.....Switzerland is such a beautiful country. ....cancer free since 2010 ....would love to come visit Newhall and Paso Robles again, but as you probably understand, my family comes first and they are all over the place...Washington state,Abu Dhabi, Kiev, Switzerland, and Utah. But it makes for fun travelling. ....wishing you well

Maligne Canyon in Jasper....another of God's amazing handiwork.
Interesting flowers in Watertown on the road to Cameron Lake. Reminded me of a cobra snake.
We shared the road with a bear. He looked like he needed a good meal. I stayed in the car so that it wouldn't be me.
Happy Father's Day to my Daddy. Hugs and kisses to the most awesome father a daughter could ever have. I still can hear you singing and whistling. Thank you for your happy heart.
Now why didn't this just wait till after Thanksgiving traffic....like possibly May?
