Barbara's Story
Mike and I met in San Diego while we were both in the Navy. After heading to different parts of the world (Washington, DC and Scotland), we married in 1984 and he became a "camp follower" as we moved from DC to Texas and eventually Colorado. We've lived in the mountains since 1990 and continue to love every minute of it.
Our family is spread from Massachusetts to New Orleans to Denver to San Diego and San Francisco. We have a large family as Mike has 4 children from his first marriage, 10 grandchildren and a beautiful great-granddaughter. We also have a son, Steven, who served in the Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009. He survived...Expand for more
2 combat tours in Iraq -- no mean feat considering he was blown up, shot and hit by flying debris. He's currently doing his internship as a paramedic and will graduate in Sept 2012. He's still talking about med school if he can figure out how to pay for it.
Our dog, Jasper, runs the household and protects us at every opportunity -- all 16 pounds of him.
I started a business in 2008 selling my handcrafted jewelry and art but had to put things on hold because of some medical issues but hope to be back on track within the year. Watch for Dancing Bird Creations in a store near you! (One can always hope!)
