Barbara's Story
After high school I worked as a certified nursing assistant in a locked psych facility for a few years. I went back to school and became a licenced psychiatric technician and worked at a state hospital for more than five years. I went on to work for Santa Clara County Emergency Psychiatric Services for nearly 11 years as a case worker and med nurse. I've been working on my RN for some time now. I should be done this year. I have a beautiful daughter who will be 19 this year. She is studying to be a social worker. Wanting to help others seems to run in the family - my mom was a therapist before she retired.
I was looking forward to doing more snow skiing after moving up here but sadly took a fall on my first run and tore and severed ligaments in both my knees. The following year I broke my leg. Two years after that I fell and fractured my back. I guess I have to accept that I don't bounce so well any more.
