Barbara's Story

After high school, I got married and moved to Greeley where I attended UNC. I had a baby along the way and eventually graduated in 72. I taught for a year, but didn't much like the public education system, so took a few years off to be a mom. I divorced in 1978 and found myself back in the workforce. I have enjoyed a variety of jobs over the years--restaurant manager, cook in a daycare, advertising sales rep and newspaper publisher. ve in Rifle Colorado and my daughter and her family live 16 miles away. We have two delightful grand children. Meg worked for the City of Glenwood finance department and I put my diverse work experience to good use working with adults with developmental disabilities. We both just retired , Meg in April and me in May. While I am enjoying retirement, I really miss the daily contact with all of the people I worked with. The staff were the kindest, most dedicated people I have ever met and the clients are amazing individuals who have created a lifetime of memories for me. It will be great to reconnect with some of you again this month--how on earth have 50 years passed!?
