Barbara's Story
Life
I did my last year & 1/2 of highschool in Kitchener,then did E.C.E. at college. I moved to Kelowna B.C for my first job.While out there I learned some mountain climbing and mountain cross country skiing. I travelled around B.C. and came home for a boat trip on the Trent Severn Waterway. It was all great! I came back to Toronto because I didn't want my nephews growing up without me. In 87 I took time off work for a few months and toures Hawaii,Australia,New Zealand and Fiji(during a military coup) by myself. It is a great way to travel,you have the freedom to go where you want,when you want and with whomever you want. It is a great way to meet people as you are more likely to talk to stangers and learn about them,be invited to visit with them if there is only one of you. It was a great timeand alot of fun. I worked in special needs child care and spent 1 yr. as personal attendant to a friend (while my sister who is her usual attend...Expand for more
ant took a year off). It was a terrific experience. I went back to child care and became supervisor after a while. I married a wonderful Irishman named Colm in 95. We go regularly to Ireland(I really love that place) and I keep trying to learn Irish as Colm went to Gaelic schools for his entire schooling. I love it but it's a hard language to learn(nothing is pronounced how it is spelled. I did study Sign Language for the deaf, but like all languages you have to keep it up and I don't get to use it too often.
I havn't been able to work since 97 due to injury but I am working hard at finding new things to try to keep myself improving ,and,I am getting better all the time. We plan to do more travelling this year...definately Italy and I'm not sure where else,maybe Thailand or Portugal. I hope everyone is enjoying themselves not matter what the circumstances we only have one go at this life. I'm doing the best I can as I hope everyone else is. Back later...
