Barbara's Story

Life Since completing High School, My life continued to be in schools until the age of 52 when I retired. If you look at my list of schools you will see where I was throughout my career. St. Catharines, Toronto and Muskoka were the places I worked. The last 17 years of my career were in School Administration. I was a Vice Principal for 6 years and a Principal for the last 11 years. I loved my job as my focus was on staff development, as well as parent education, and team building. Since 1999, I had a home based business for 6 years and did some private tutoring for the last two. I have been taking courses in natural healing: Reiki, reflexology, EHA( Energy, Harmony Alignment) and life coaching. I spent the last 26 years of my career in education living in Muskoka ( Dwight) where I met my husband, Mike Lupton. He developed a successful custom home building business. We had a daughter, Amelia(Amy) in 1979. She is currently 27 and living in St. Catharines. She is still single, so I have to wait for grandchildren. Mike and I parted ways in 1997 , but still maintain a friendship . He remarried in Sept.2006. I have had relationships since then, but have not found that special spiritual soulmate. I am blessed with many wonderful friends, both male and female, and a great family. My older sister , Carolyn lives in Waterdown with her husband of 45 years. My nephew lives in Toronto with his wife and 7 year old twin sons.I stay pretty active rollerblading, biking and sailing in the spring, summer and fall. In the winter, I walk. I have taken up bridge and have been playing at it for several years. It has been some time since my last update. It is now 2011. I am a grandmother to the beautiful one year old daughter of Amy. Her name is Taylor .I have had some health challenges for the last two years with Lyme disease, but am finally felling back to normal , thanks to a friend who identified it for me last year and to an a amazing health care team who treated it. I am one of the lucky ones. Since June 2010, I have been living happily with Alan Swick ( Originally a Fonthill boy who went to Pelham). We have a history. When I as 17 and he as 21, he was ...Expand for more
my first love. We were introduced by our mutual friend , Allan Kucharski. My Alan (Gus ) was attending Queens and I was inGrade 13. After a year we parted ways and it was time for my U of T experience. At the end we reconnected and became engaged but with him in Trois Rivieres, Quebec and dealing with a new job and working with anew language ,it was too much and we parted again. Over the years , we kept in touch every 5-10 years, and after 43 years, we found ourselves in a place in our lives when it was finally time for us to be together we have settled in Collingwood ON and are enjoying the lifestyle. My dad passed away in 1985, while I was living in England and obtaining my M.Ed.at the University of Nottingham. My Mom married a childhood friend in 1990. Currently, they are both alive and pretty healthy, but after heart attacks and strokes, mom had to be put in a nursing home. Her memory for daily events is not good, but as long as she knows who I am and is happy to see me, I am happy too. As of November 2006, I moved to the beach area of Toronto. It has been my dream to live here as I love being near water. While married we lived on 10 acres beside a private lake in the country. I was a block away from Lake Ontario. I sold my townhouse in Burlington where I lived for 6 years and rented for almost two years. I have begun a new career asa developer and custom home builder. It is both exciting and rewarding becasue i am able to use a variety of my talents. My exhusband is a custom home builder and I physically worked on the construction of our first with him. Our second home was my first design and interior planning project. Combined with my administrative and networking skills make it aperfect fit. Who knows what will come to me next. If you remember me and are inclined to get in touch, that would be great. I love to hear about friends from the past. In case you were wondering , the photo I have posted for now was taken June 2007. Life has been peaceful with many joys to keep me young and in love with life. I hope you have been blessed the same way or are on your path to experience that peace in your life. All the best.
