Barbara's Story
Life
The years at SBHS were great ones! Lots of good memories. I went on to graduate from FSU and worked at St. Petersburg College teaching history and political science (no surprise there for those who remember me) and then became the program director for Social and Behavioral Sciences from 1985 until June 2004 when I retired. I was lucky enough to also become the director for Humanities and the Fine Arts and I just loved that! Now I adjunct teach and just enjoy life.
I never married or had children (in our day, that was the way it was) but have been very close to two godchildren and played a big role in helping them grow up. I found children teach you humility and force you to develop the ability to laugh at yourself. It does not take too long hanging around little kids to realize that no one in the world will ever take you as seriously as you take yourself and the sooner you learn that lession, the better.
I live in Clearwater, Florida in a condo. My hope is to eventually retire and move north so I can drive slow, hog the left lane and generally drive like a tourist. Payback time!!!! If anyone has any info ...Expand for more
on living in Delaware, North Carolina, Maryland or Virginia, I would love to hear it. My dad has passed away but my mother is hanging tough at 86. She is physically slowed down with asthma but mentally is sharp as a tack. I would never leave her in Florida alone but really look forward to the day I get out of this heat and humidity.
I love to read, history and political science as well as spy and some science fiction novels. My favorite programs more recently have been X-Files, Boston Legal, SG-1, The Sopranos, Lost, Jericho, The Prisoner and a really interesting new program on FX called The Riches. I no longer play tennis but would love to get back to playing golf. I guess the game of golf eventually captures all of us. It is a constant proof that it is better to look down at the grass rather than up at it.
I would love to hear from others who attended Little Flower School, McNichol Junior High, South Broward High and St. Thomas Aquinas in Lauderdale. Those were exciting years and I have such good memories of almost everyone I went to school with-maybe one or two not so good memories. Let's share and reconnect!
