Barbara's Story
My life has been one big Oprah Show...One big roller coaster ride...One bad marriage, one beautiful daughter, some crazy friends, some amazing experiences and some interesting jobs: A copper factory for 21 years, Federal Govt, Law Office, OUW, School Funding Coalition, Lutheran Social Services and Healthcare Industry. I worked 2 jobs for many years to make ends met, due to my ex-husband moving from one state to another.
I should write a book about my life...No one would believe it!!....My father shot my then husband, who came to my parents' home drunk/abusive with a series of weapons, after I walked out on my marriage to him after getting out of the hospital...
My father was not charged by grand jury due to husband's violent past, plus my ex broke the lock off my parent's door to get to us...My Mother and I had to testify in front of the grand jury, My father was just trying to protect his family!!
Do not recommend marrying some one after only knowing him for 3 weeks...Love at first sight does not exist!!!
Like my mother said, "You can not kill the devil", my ex did survive the shooting, and still tried to get...Expand for more
back together again...I believe he was on wife #5 until she died on him...Told you---hard to believe. But I found out last year 2007 that he died of lung cancer all alone..I then decided to never marry again!
This was only one interesting story out of my adult life. These trials and tributations makes me a stronger and independent person.
I raised my daughter by myself, after that violence...Brandi was 4 years old then...Now she is 34 years old and married with 2 step-children. My father passed away a few years ago and I was at his bedside when he passed with hospice help in Florida.
I was working with the homeless shelter (in Downtown Columbus for 3 years. It was my most rewarding job and disolved some old stereo-type misconceptions about the homeless population; in general. Several former homeless advocates have become great friends with me. I see all people in a new light.
I am now working with healthcare industry for five years and help many seniors with their drug needs and sometimes financial help. We will all be seniors in a few years. It is hard to believe some many years have past since high school.
