Barbara's Story

Life After graduating from SUNY at Oneonta, I started my teaching career in Wynantskill. Two years later I moved to the Averill Park School District, teaching 2nd grade in West Sand Lake for 8 years and Poestenkill for another 23. Last June I retired, although I've done a lot of subbing this year. I enjoy being able to stay in touch with friends at school and still work with kids, but I like being able to say "no" when I have something else to do or just...Expand for more
prefer to sleep in or avoid the lousy weather. I'm living in Wynantskill- with Mom living downstairs in an inlaw apartment. She's now 85 and still doing quite well, but after my younger sister (Nancy) died, Mom really needed some help. I'm no longer married but have been with someone for the last eight years. He works for the State (God bless him) and still has a couple of years before he can retire. Then we hope to move to someplace warmer.
