Barbara's Story
Life
I'm currently 'single' but have met and fell in love with the man of my dreams. I have (4) handsome sons, six beautiful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. To keep from getting bored after retiring from Boeing 3 years ago, I currently work part-time as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for King County Superior Court. My life has been blessed over the years so I felt that it was my turn to give back to my community.
I enjoy spending my free time with my 'sweetheart', family and friends. I especially enjoy spontaneous road trips, golfing with Ricardo and my sons, and the romantic getaways with Ricardo at the mountain cabin.
I hope my friends remember me for my humor, love of family and friends, my kind heart, and my ability to survive being a total and complete clutz.
I always wanted to be a Naval Officer (WAVE) when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ridiculous and stupid idea. As it turns out, they were probably right.
I blow off steam walking, golfing, laughing, and soaking in my hot tub.
I was the 'class clown' and I truly enjoyed driving the nuns NUTTS. From disrupting class to practical jokes........I was a MESS!!!!!
I've lived in California several times but returned home because the pace of Southern Cal was too much for this sistah!!!!!
I'd planned for many years to work hard and retire young. For the most part, my life played out exactly the way I'd planned except for the sudden and unexpected death of my husband in March of 2000. My plans had to be altered from being married to single but LIFE has been good overall. The biggest surprise has been realizing just how truly precious TIME really is. Life can be altered or changed in the blink of an eye. I've learned to live every minute of my life as if...Expand for more
it's my last.
Parenting? I've learned that the job of parenting is the hardest job I ever had. Ironically, it's the gift that keeps on giving and surprisingly it never ends.
If I won $100 million, I'd give a large share of it to my family and close friends, then I'd spend the rest on sharing with my favorite charities, travelling to all of the places I've dreamed about and buy a big beautiful house on a quiet waterfront.
To be truly happy, I'd be with Ricardo and my family in Jamaica, relaxing and having fun.....fun.......fun.
My best friend would tell you that I'm sensitive, fun loving, caring and unique in many ways, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a hilariously funny and some kind of nutt.
I sincerely hope that my old friends remember me for my sense of humor, my love of family and friends, my honesty, integrity and loyalty.
Update as of 2022: I have (4) handsome sons, (6) beautiful and handsome grandchildren.....Drew, Marcus, Amanda, Paige, Jacob & Zachary. I am now a great-grandmother: Xavier, Porter & Atlas. My life has been a real challenge from time to time but I managed survive and, I pray, am a better person from it all.
I am extending a sincere apology to my bestest girlfriend in H.S., Donella, for the horrible and hurtful things that I said and did throughout our senior year. I have NO EXCUSE for the way that I acted and it's hard for me to think about the pain that I caused my dear friend. It's been over 50 years since we graduated and I'm blessed to say that, during a recent phone call, she assured me that she forgave me. She still has a reserved place in my heart that represents more positive than negative memories. Thank you, Don, for your forgiveness and enduring friendship.
