Barbara's Story
Life
After high school, went to college for 1 semster in Austin, and then another semster here in Houston. Then I entered the workforce as a full charge bookkeeper for 20 years. After that, a change into travel ( flight attendant and travel coordinator) but now back in a numbers position. Happily married for 33 years to John Grammer ( Heavy) - Waltrip class of '66. We have 2 children, a daughter, Audra, who is now deceased, and a son, A.J. who is 30 years old.
A.J. resides in Conroe. Heavy and I have lived in Jersey Village for 27 years. He is an account executive for CitiMortgage and I am the pricing coordinator for AmeriGas Propane (10 years). We've lived a very active life, and for the last 13 years have competed in competition swing dance. We dance West Coast Swing, which looks a whole like the old Whip ( for all you Garner State Park fans). We actually won the U.S. Open championship in 1999 and 2000 in Los...Expand for more
Angeles in our age division (50 and older). Now we do more social dancing, but we continue to support the competition arena (Heavy does a lot of judging). We try to attend a few events outside of Texas every year. We have had so much fun on the dance circuit and have met so many nice people. We are hoping to live in the West when we retire (specifically Durango Colorado), and we are working hard toward that goal. My mom is still living (Albuquerque NM), but we lost my dad this past May '06. He was 90 years old and was a survivor of the Bataan Death March as well as 42 months in Japanese prison camps. My brother, Larry, died in 1986, but my brother Brad is still living in Houston (he drives long-haul), and my sister Shelly lives in Crockett, Texas, in her last year of study to be a registered nurse. It's been great keeping up with old high school friends all these years. Hope everyone will continue to participate.
