Life

My fellow Bearcats....many changes have taken place in my life since I graduated from the class of '72'. When I graduated I was tall, thin, and had long blondish hair. My best buddy was Rita Watz and I was "going with" Don Konuszewski. Now I dye my hair, wear it short and am not "thin." I guess not many people stay the same as they were in high school. I was really sick for a few years until the drs discovered a large tumor at the base of my brain, stemming from my pituitary gland. I was lucky that it wasn’t malignant, but not lucky that the tumor destroyed all pituitary function and also caused damage to my optic nerve, causing some visual deficits. My life has changed-but I’m still here! We’re all at the age when ‘stuff’ happens and we have to do the best we can. Don and I have been married for almost 50 years now and our...Expand for more
family has grown. We have 3 married children and 7 grandkids. We are so fortunate that we get to see them on somewhat of a regular basis. Rita is still my best buddy, but she's still in sunny Florida, so our relationship is mostly text messages and random sightings/visits here and there. Don & I have both been retired for several years now. We both enjoy nature (feeding birds, seeing/photographing wildlife, summer flower gardening), summer music concerts, going out to eat, movies, traveling and spending time with our family and friends. We have always had 1-2 pets throughout our married life. Currently, we have a 15 yr-old pie-bald dachshund (Ollie), and we also have a 9 yr old Llewellin setter, (named Scout). They both shed like crazy. Wherever I go, I carry a little bit of them with me. Life is good. Peace to all. Barb (Weideman) Konuszewski
