Barbara's Story
Life since High School, I have traveled quite a bit and in addition to New Mexico, I have lived in the states of Washington, North Carolina, Maryland, Illinois and currently in Texas. On December 31, 1969, I married William Baird and we are still married. (We knew each other less than 30 days when we got married.) Together we have had 4 children. Martha is married to Parks McGregor and they have three children, Rachel, Joshua and Elizabeth. Martha works full time for her church with part of that time in the Mother's Day Out program. Her husband has received his masters degree in para-legal. Thomas is married to Nicole and they have two daughters, both are attending private school. His wife is a stay at home mom for their two daughters Nadia and Leila. Thomas works as a account executive for a major company and he also builds web-sites, and he just started his own company, designing t-shirts. Check out his website: thebairdbros.com. His death was due to complications of a premature birth. Jacob was 22 when he was killed in a car accident on December 25, 1997.
Right after high school, I took classes at Southwest Computer College in Albuquerque, I also attended Kishwaukee Community College in Malta, IL, where I studied computer programming. After our move to Texas in 1985, I worked for First American Corporation and retired in 2009 with over 21 years of service. After retirement from First American, I took a part time job with a marketing company, doing demo's in the WalMart store in Decatur, TX. In June of 2014 I fell and broke my knee cap, and tore the meniscus in my right knee, so I no longer am able to do demo's.
Bill and I are semi-retired and live on our "ranchette" in rural Wise County, Texas, outside of the small town of Alvord.
In 2019 I completed one thing on my bucket list. I visited the last 4 states in the lower 48 and only have Alaska and Hawaii and I will have been to all 50 states.
This year we are taking an Alaska cruise, leaving only Hawaii! (due to Covid 19 our cruise had to be cancelled)
