Barbara's Story

Things haven't gone the way I had planned for them to go, when I chatted with the Portage High guidance counselors. There have been times when I have wished that I had finished college before the children were born. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the end result of my choices. My life continues to be fulfilling and happy. There have been some nice surprises. You can find me on Facebook. I will be happy to "friend" you. Here's the data I sent to our reunion committee. ~Currently dances with Seniorgee, a Senior Dance Team that performs at Milwaukee Bucks home games (5th yr). You can find performances on youtube, with the search tag, Seniorgee. ~Retired and living in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI. UPDATE: on July 1st, 2013, we moved to the Nashville, TN area. No NBA team here, so no more dance team. :) ~After high school graduation, worked for 1 year writing commercials for WKZO Radio, married Jim Beasley, who was the morning DJ there (also played Uncle Fred on the Channel 3 Clubhouse). 1961, just before he was shipped off with some of my male class mates to Fort Benning, GA, when their National Guard unit was activated. 49th anniversary is almost here. Moved to Detroit and then to Milwaukee,to accommodate Jim's radio career (dj, actor and voice talent). ~Studied journalism at Western Michigan University and Wayne State University. ~Started having babies. ~Switched to Business School at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. ~Never quite finished college. ~Worked in sales for a radio station, business newspaper and Ameritech yellow pages. ~Retired and then went back to work, selling cars for two years. ~Retired for good now, studying piano, tap dance, and hip hop. ~Other hobbies: knitting, beading and genealogy. FAMILY: Husband: Jim Sanders Beasley Children: Laura Beasley Scott (47), Liz Beasley Jackson (45), Sarah Beasley(43) Grandchildren: Kelsey Elizabeth Scott (21), Carly Rene Jackson (15), Samuel Maurice Jackson (13) Great Grandchildren:None Pets: Two Persian cats, Piney and Bugsy.
