Barbara's Story
It seems like yesterday that I would walk up and down the ramps at Lincoln. I still remember my locker combination! I will be in California during the reunion, and sorry that I won't be able to see so many familiar old faces....no, no, I mean YOUNG faces!!! After all, who IS that 62 year old in my mirror?
I will be in LA for the Emmy Awards. My son, Christopher Manley, is nominated for his second Emmy as a director of photography. Chis films "Mad Men" for AMC channel It is a show set in the early 60's at an advertising agency in NYC. The funny thing is, I worked at N.W. Ayer Advertising in Phila. in their art department. It was the same time period as the "Mad Men" show. During that time I had also danced with the Philadelphia Civic Ballet.
Fast forward 40 years. Life is good. I have 5 grandchildren. One in Virginia, two in North Carolina, and two in Los Angeles. My husband and I spend a lot of time traveling to see them all. This Christmas, my son, daughter, spouces, and four grandchildren will be here for the holidays. We live in Naples, Florida. We can't give them a white Christ...Expand for more
mas, but hopefully the weather will be warm eonugh to go to the beach.
I am still dancing. I Jazzercise several times a week. It gets harder every year. Something is usually hurting, but it brings me joy, and that is worth a few aches and pains.
My husband and I are retired, so we have been able to do some cruising and traveling out of the country which we both love. If there is one thing that keeps us at home, it is our 20 year old cat. Our niece comes to stay with her when we are away. We are so appreciative that our cat lets us live here with her. We are her dutiful servants. Her meows are our commands.
I will be thinking of all you during reunion time!

A great sadness has entered my life. My husband Dick passed away on December 21, just four days before this past Christmas. We were looking ahead to his appointment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and hoping for the best of help. It didn't happen. He was a wonderful husband and I miss him terribly. We had a good life together and I will take those memories with me as I try to move forward.
