I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a pipe dream. As it turns out, they were right, I was born too soon I feel as the doors weren't open for this aspiring commercial aviator. A horseback riding accident when I was in sixth grade landed me in a naval hospital for three months where a navy corpman influenced my educational path. After applying for and realizing scholarship monies, and working as a nurses aide, and thus securing mega bucks (LOL) to help pay for nursing school, I graduated as a LPN. This was not the degree I wanted. Overlook Hospital decided to cut their RN program the year before I was to start. However, they did offer me a position in their LPN program and thus began my path in nursing. I later enrolled in the LPN-RN mobility program at a community college to persue the elusive RN degree I originally sought to achieve. Marriage, children, and life got in the way which led me to other noble causes to help others with substance abuse. I credit Overlook Hospital for providing a great education in nursing.
