Barry Cole:  

Life Professionally: I received my undergraduate degree in bacteriology from the University of California; my medical doctorate from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine; and my Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I performed residencies in both psychiatry and neurology at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, and an anesthesia-related fellowship in pain management at the University of California at Los Angeles’ Center for Health Sciences. The American Psychiatric Association awarded me fellowship status in 1995 and Distinguished Fellow status in 2002. I have been active in pain management since 1985, as a pain management fellow, a clinician, and as an active member of many pain-related organizations. I served on the American Academy of Pain Management’s Board of Advisors, Board of Directors, and numerous committees; was the President from January 1, 1994 until December 31, 1995, and Interim Executive Director from March 1 until December 31, 1998.
