Barry's Story
After graduating high school in 1974, I attended what was then the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo where I received a BS degree in Automotive Service and Parts Management in 1978. While in collage I joined the National Intercollagiate Rodeo Association as a bull rider. In 1977 I met and married my wife, Judy. We have three children (two girls and one boy) and twelve grandchildren. We are fortunate that they all live within 25 miles of us. Currently, I am the owner and operator of a small ranch in eastern Colorado, own Automotive Technology Training Development (we develop training materials and eLearning courses), and am general partner of Hollembeak/Nowak Properties LLC. I have authored several automotive technology textbooks that are in use in post secondary automo...Expand for more
tive programs throughout the world. My interests include hunting, shooting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, and playing with my grandchildren. Also, I am President of the Agate Mutual Telephone Cooperative Association.
In 2016 I was sworn in as a deputy for the Elbert County Sheriff Posse. This is a volunteer branch of the Sheriff's Office that provides support personnel for serving non-criminal court processes, performing Ranch Watch, Increased Patrols, License Plate seizures, livestock complaints, accident and other emergency calls as dispatched, assist in detentions, process Concealed Handgun Permits, and assist in crowd and traffic control at special events held within the county. We also assist traffic and patrol officers by providing back-up during stops or incidents.
