Barry's Story

Left Colville in 1974, thought it was the end of the world like most teenagers would at that age. Moved to Dickinson ND for a year, my mom married an old high school boyfriend and we moved to Ogden Utah, it was the end of the world, lasted just over a year, moved back to Dickinson for my junior and senior year of high school. Had a son 11 days before my 18th birthday, graduated high school and started supporting my son, never married his mom. After high school I worked at a truck stop briefly before landing a job managing a clothing store for 3 years got tired of it and moved on to selling cars (wasn't a good enough liar or cheat to be good at it), managed a home improvement store (siding, windows etc), worked in the oil fields during a mini oil boom in North Dakota in the early 80s. After a few other jobs and looking to leave North Dakota and find myself I joined the Army in Sept of 1986. I know, who would of thou...Expand for more
ght, same here! Long story shortened, I've been in the military ever since. I've been deployed in 1991 during Desert Shield, Desert Storm and again in 2005 to Iraq. I'm a registered radiology technologist and currently manage a radiology department at a Army Medical Center in El Paso Texas. Besides my son who is now 30 years old I have a 14 year daughter who is presently living me since her mom (also in the army) is deployed. I tried the marraige thing but didn't pick the right person but have a wonderful daughter from that union. I plan on retiring from the military within the next few years and will most likely stay in El Paso to remain close to my daughter and the weather is also a plus for golfing which is my hobby and addiction for the last 8 years. Other then that, just trying to stay sane, healthy and content in life. Would love to hear from anyone from Colville, Dickinson, my army travels etc. Take care.
