Bascom's Story

Retired from the Air Force, both military and civil service. Still located in Crestview FL I have retirement property in Alabama (Auburn area) and have built nice lake to relax and enjoy with my wife, children and grandchildren. For the last 20 years I was a Financial Manager for the Air Force with a $87,000,000 annual budget supporting Special Operation forces. I also retired from the Air Force on the military side and supported the DoD and their efforts to keep this nation safe. My son is Chief of detectives for the Crestview Police Dept and my daughter works for the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Dept. as a Corrections Officer. My wife is retired Air Force, both military and civilian also. We enjoy bird watching, gardening, fishing and hunting for Native American relics. We also enjoy going to car shows and love showing our 1965 Mustang Coup, which we had $20K restoration done in 2006. Now you know why e-mail address is 65mustang2. r aircraft Co. until I was drafted and spent 3 yr. 11 mths and 22 days in the Army, but who is counting. After leaving the Army I worked for Williams Energy Co. in Dothan Al. and New Port Richey Fl. before coming back to Crestview and working for Borden dairy until I decided to use my VA education entitlements. Two degrees from Okaloosa Walton Jr College, AS and AAS, BS degree from UWF and worked on MA while a classroom teacher in Walton County. During the years after I got out of the Army, I served as a reservist for the Air Force and completed 28 years of military service. I left my teaching position in 1983 and went to work for the Air Force as a civilian and retired 2 Jan 09. I've seen 49 states and most of North and South America. Spent 3 years in Alaska. The only traveling we like to do now is for family reunions, retirement property and Florida State football games. We are Nole Boosters and both bleed Garnet & Gold. JR P.S.
