David's Story
Hello CHSers.
I thought I would add an update after I graduated Rutgers. In 1965 I traveled to Europe and hitchhiked and worked around Europe and the Middle East for 13 months, including delivering furniture in Glasgow, working in a German hotel in the Alps, harvesting bananas in an Isreali Kebuttz and driving a forklift truck in a factory in Copenhagen.
Returned to Cranford and worked in NY for a year before going on a 6 week "Route 66" across the country with a buddy and ending up in San Francisco working for Air California. A year later I was promoted and moved to the Air Cal HQ in Newport Beach, where I met my wife to be, Jeanne, in 1969. In 1970, we both left Air Cal...Expand for more
and moved to the Balboa Peninsula in Newport. I started a Coffee Service Company that year and built that up to the largest Coffee Service in Orange County and sold it to another company from New Orleans in 1992.
In the meantime we had a house built a few doors from Newport Bay, had 2 kids in the early eighties, Brittany and Jonathan and generally just enjoyed the kids, the beach and Southern California.
In 1995 I started a Sign Fabrication company and built that up until 2008 and got wacked with the Great Recession and had to liquidate. Presently I work part time as an Independent Sign Contractor, go to the Gym virtually every day and still enjoy the great Beach life.
