William's Story
Well, here is a (not so) brief bio...Graduated from Crestwood in 1971, left Michigan in 1973. Spent six months in Southern California before moving to Phoenix for about two years. Married Bonnie Brady while there, divorced within a year:) (ahhhh, high school sweethearts). Moved to the Grand Canyon and ran a restaurant for a season, that experience changed my life by being thrown in with a few hundred strangers from around the world. Moved to Vail, Colorado to learn to ski. I spent two years there and met my future wife, Rita Williams from Houston. Because of the Texas connection, we moved to Austin in 1976 and were married in Houston. Texas was a little toxic for us, so we moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, for a job opportunity and skiing. I stayed in Utah from 1978 to 1998, Rita stayed until around 1992....divorce number two. While in Utah, I became the ceo of a non-profit, part time ski instructor and river runner, in other words, I had a great time!
In 1998, having grown bored with life in Utah, I sold everything, gave six months notice at my organization and moved to Hawaii. Pri...Expand for more
mary purpose for this was to become a blue water sailor. Met my current wife, Barb Dove, on a sailboat, we have been married for nearly 20 years. I have cruised all of the Hawaiian Islands, through Micronesia, to Tahiti and did a transit from Mexico to Hawaii. I now hained my coast guard captains license and occasionally earned money on the water, sweeet! Barb and I have traveled a lot, major trips, in chronological order, 3 weeks in France, 3 weeks in New Zealand, 10 days in Korea and Japan, two weeks in Ireland, 3 weeks in Alaska, 5 months non-stop around the world, and logged 30,000 miles driving motorhomes across the US. In 2014 we bought a 36’ cabin cruiser and did most of the great loop, traveling from Florida to Annapolis, Annapolis to upstate New York, New York to Tawas, MI, Tawas to Demopolis, AL, over four summers. Sold the old boat and returned to Hawaii..
In 2020, we moved to Palmetto, Florida, to be near Barb’s elderly parents. Nice little spot on a canal...in a trailer park😀
At the age of 68, I am still enjoying life, laughing a lot and in love. Who could ask for more?
