Beatrice's Story

I worked as a Contractor for SWBTCo. after my girls were in High School. We traveled and lived in Florida, Tennessee and Texas with my Husband Bob's job. When we left Tennessee to returned to Texas in 1966,after the birth of our youngest daughter, I attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton for 2 1/2 years; received enough hours to substitute teach in elementery school for a few years. Very disappointed that I never finished and should have changed my major to Bussiness Economics. Opened a Retail Store in the '80's and ran it for several years then went back to work for the telephone co. After 12 years and they diversified, I retired to stay home and help my husband run his business. Have been bookkeeper and etc. for him for the past 15 yrs. Enjoy all eleven (11) of my Grandchildren; and one (1) great-granddaughter. We have begun to travel a little; visit our children; and of course keep in close contact with my sisters and brother; visit Bay City as often as I can when am not busy with my Church work or office work. I always wanted to be a Nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. Scream for a while. Read a book or talk to our daughters. To be very flexible and let things go for a while and live a little. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my church, the...Expand for more
n spend the rest on children, home and save the rest. NO My current age is 70. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely surprised to see you can take care of yourself and live longer. My best friend would tell you I'm trustworthy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quite. I share my home with my husband, which I find romantic, funny and dependable. Given to me from organizations that I have been associated with and received recognition. Very proud of them and the people assocated with them. In 10 years, I hope to be still alive. I'm going to get there by taking care of myself and eating right. She is a jewel. We met in Church some 30 years ago and we seem to have the same ideas about different topics. We get along famously. That I have gained weight and am in the process of getting slim again and still shy after 540 years. My first job was at a church, where I got paid $50 a week to be s secretary to the minister. What I remember most about it is It was veryeasy and not at all demanding as jobs are today. On Summer days going fishing with my Dad and having a picnic on the River in Matagorda. Later when we got home, catching lighting bugs in jars and watching them until we had to let them go. This was done with my sister and brother, no cares or worries. Such fun.
