Susan's Story
Short story - reach me at suzeebeck at ya hoo or on My Space with Suzeebeck. Also I have a "Face Book" under Mary Susan Beck-Parker.
Let's see, I was preparing for college and a career as a stock broker, but I got pregnant in 12th grade graduated 6 months pregnant and married (Catholic!) Divorced at 28 - three beautiful kids later...
Re-married in 1999, divorced again,..
Now re-married to Philip "Andy" Parker, in Sept. '06. {He grew up in PG and Charles County. While he was at the "Outcasts table" in the lunch room of Lord Baltimore Junior HS, I was a Drama Club nerd at Francis Scott Key Jr HS. But we eventually found each other!} Andy is the love of my life, my soul-mate, my biggest fan, and my best friend and supporter. Plus, with his support, I finally graduated college with my Finance Degree Dec. 2006!!
I hope my friends will remember me as fun, and loyal. I was kind of hyper and I have ADHD,.. so that might have contributed to my confusion all the time. I wasn't a material girl, but a 'Princess Bride' type, always dreaming.
I still live in P G County.. O M G! Live near Cosca Park where the gang used to hang out..
I always wanted to be a musician when I grew up. My family said you'll never make money, and my friends said why not? They were both right, because no matter how great a musician/singer is, it's hard to make a living at it! But I do it and enjoy myself, and people tell me I'm really great, which defines success to me.
I had a rock and roll band that I sang, and played keyboards in,.. but mostly I was the leader and lead singer. I named it Madd Mother Moose, and my husband was the bass player for the group. After 6 years, I ended Moose and we started a new blues band named Deep Mother. You can find it at Deep Mother Do t co m, it's a Blues band project, I also sit-in to sing, and give other support to a yo...Expand for more
ung alternative-rock band that my Husband plays in called Broken Stigma.
I've had a wide range of occupations, crazy ends of the spectrum, and I've struggled to raise my three children and grow up myself. They were raised in poverty, but they say that's what makes them appreciate so much more from life than other young adults they know. I was really lucky to land on my feet and find my way in life, but then I've always been a survivor. My kids and I are doing much better now and have reached middle class - which to most people isn't a major goal!
(I think back in the '80's everyone planned to become millionaires and show our parents how it's done! I got sidetracked before I even left high school...)
All 3 kids are in college, my youngest son Ryan is 20, 6'2" and attends College of Southern MD. My 23 yr old son Phillip is in Charles County, and my 24 year old daughter Amanda lives in Ocean City and works as a bartender while she works towards her Masters. Far enough away to party where I won't see. (Your Mother Always Knows!)
My three children are my life, and we are very close-knit. They are so smart, and independent, and quick. I was a very late bloomer. In high school I didn't know what the heck was going on most of the time,(can you say "hormones"?) Sometimes I still don't.
My kids are so opposite of that. They are just wonderful. They have taught me that I actually am a pretty cool person, even though inside I still feel like a big nerd. My kids are also politically active, big Women's Rights supporters and liberal democrats like Momma!
To relax - after getting home from my government job - I play the same piano I've had since childhood, surf the internet or play Literati with my hubby.
I can't believe I'm 42!! Sheesh!
I still have some weight to lose, metabolism slowing down, but I'm pretty happy with my life.
