My Spouse
Carl & I met through mutual friends on various occasions. Finally got together as a couple at a friend's party. That was in August 1988 & we've been together ever since. Finally married in July 1996. We still enjoy each other's company after 20 years. Hard to believe it's been that long!
My Pets
2 cats (Jezebel and 99), a large & ornery (but pretty) prehensile tail skink (Sam-I-Am), a rabbit (Scooter), and (the newest members) three sugar gliders (Bucket, Stitch & Blossom).
After getting my BA in Econ at Cal Berkeley, I worked for a while. Also had my own jewelry business on the side. Carl & I moved to LA so I could go to grad school at UCLA. I finished my PhD in Economics in 2005, working for the Census Bureau during the last few years of that.
Got laid off in Jan '06 and decided to pursue my own business selling my own polymer clay jewelry and crafts. My business is Bliss Point Creations and the website is blisspointcreations DOT com. out, maybe buy a gift for someone (like yourself! :) ). I plan to add new items on a regular basis, though I've been to busy to add anything lately.
I also love to belly dance. Started taking formal classes Sept '05. Lately, I've been performing with my classes at belly dance festivals. I've also been taking workshops and classes from other instructors and will someday soon get the nerve to perform solo at one of the local haflas. In the meantime, I'm just enjoying it and trying to learn new steps and styles --at the moment, I'm learning to dance while balancing my new scimitar on my head.
Some friends and I recently started a non-profit organization to help build a Pagan community center in the LA area. It's called the Pagan Unity Foundation and I am a Director and the President. This has been a lot of work, but it something that the LA Pagan community has been wanting and we've had lots of support. We're currently working on getting tax-exempt status from the IRS and will have a membership drive soon. We've got lots of ideas for events and programs leading up to getting a an actual center, so this will keep me very busy.
