Tom's Story

Life After graduating I went to CSUN on a baseball scholarship, but that didn't last long. I ended up graduating as a P.E. major, with a Coaching emphasis. I went to San Diego State for my Master's and Florida State for my Ph.D. in Sport Psychology. During my stay at F.S.U. I became a Christian. After I got my degree I worked for the State of Florida for about a year but then become a missionary in South Korea as a teacher. While in Korea I met my wife and we married there. We lived in South Korea for three years and then came back to the U.S.A. to be trained in theology so I could become a pastor. In May of 2004 I received my Master's of Divinity degree. My wife and I had our first child in 2001 (Lydia) and second in 2004 (Jadyn). Yes, I started late! Just prior to graduating I became aware of a teaching position in Sport Management at Liberty University. I applied and got the job. That is where I am presently, in VA. We plan to start a church in the future when my job is not so difficult. Our lives are full of joy, meaning, and purpose. THIS is the "good life!" Life is good, but it is also a struggle. We choose to look at the glass as "half full" rather than "half empty." If you would like to contact us you can get my e-mail address from the Liberty University web-site. I look forward to hearing from you, Tom, Mi Hyun, Lydia, and Jadyn Bell School High school was a blast. We had so much fun. I remember the times the football and baseball teams would go out a few nights before the game and go to a buffet (causing trouble), walking through the Mall (causing trouble), go to a ...Expand for more
Putt-Putt (causing trouble) and then to a friends house (causing trouble). I think it is a miracle that none of us got arrested. We were that bad. We did a lot of crazy things at school too. The "pep-team" did a great job of getting us excited about school, sports, etc. Thanks gals and guys! The student council did a great job planning fun events. The banana and pie eating contests were especially memorable. The three-legged race was good. I still have some of the weekly animated pep-rally things that would say, "Crush Chatsworth" or "Rip Reseda." However, the best thing about high school were the people. You guys were wonderful. You made me feel really special, liked, wanted, and it encouraged me. I have concluded in my old age that life is about "people." It is not about "things" and stuff that just wears out. I still have my football jersy that we were allowed to wear on Fridays to school. It is worn and tattered. However, my memories of you ... the people who "were" my high school experience are fresh and they still excite me to think about all that we shared. Thanks friends and teachers, Tom Bell Workplace I worked many jobs as a waiter to get myself through 3 college degrees. Once I got my Ph.D. I worked for the state for a year and then went on to South Korea as a missionary for 3 years. I came back to the States in 2002 to go to seminary. While I was there I was a youth pastor/education ministor at a Korean church. Shortly after graduating seminary I got a job as a professor in Lynchburg, VA. Currently, we are at Bluefield College in beautiful Bluefield, VA.
