Life
What can I say? Sometimes life can be good... really good. I currently live in Japan working for a video game developer. It really is my dream job. One of those where you get excited just thinking about going to work. I guess you could say it allows me to be a hard-working grown-up while maintaining the "inner-child" in me.
While being totally consumed by your job is definitely something most Americans would frown upon, it really is a different culture and most Japanese people do make most of their lifelong friendships via work.
The job currently has me on the road more often than not and has given me the opportunity to see countries like England, France, Germany, Scotland, Sweden, and Korea... all on the company dime. Not to mention the numerous PR events I attend means that I am getting the chance to stay at hotels and eat food that I would normarly avoid due to sticker...Expand for more
shock. Once again, with the company footing the bill it's hard to say no.
Ok. Ok. I am rambling on. Nonetheless, my advice would be to TRAVEL. As Americans (and especially people who were raised in the mid-west) you should have an obligation to see the world and change your perspective on life. Looking from the inside out is better than not looking at all... but looking from the outside in may surprise you with what you find.
No kids or wife not due to lack of opportunity but more so my gen X fear of divorce. So I have decided to play it safe and take is slow. A little more time to mature can never hurt something as complex or important as a marriage. One person your whole life? Definitely not something I want to rush. Ok... so if I talk about this any more it will sound like I am just justifing my lonely existance so this is where I will stop.
