Benjamin's Story
After graduating Hopewell High School in 1966, I attended Virginia Tech (BSEE).
I have been doing electronic and software design work since then, various projects from telephones and medical devices (Senseonics) through encryption and nuclear missiles.
For 10 years I classified new patent applications, with a specialty in motors and power systems including perpetual motion machines - yes we have 6 different classifications for these!
Starting late 2018 I began working as a machinist at Drake L...Expand for more
oaders in Waynesboro, making parts for machines that load hot dogs and other discrete food products into packaging.
The picture is of my competition Free Pistol (an Olympic sport). I have won state championship matches with it.
At VT I was on the Glee Club technical staff. I get to play the organ at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church when the choir director is away, as well as bass guitar with the Spring Hillbillies, and saxophone and euphonium with my grandchildren in the Spring Winds ensemble.
